Have you ever worked really hard at work to get a promotion or raise just to go unnoticed and overlooked? This can be the worst feeling ever and often discourage many people from putting in more effort in the future. Oftentimes, going the extra mile is not enough—in order to truly stand out, it feels like we have to go another extra nine miles.
Oftentimes, going the extra mile is not enough—in order to truly stand out, it feels like we have to go another extra nine miles.
But this doesn’t have to be the case—rather, you need a strategic plan to increase your likelihood of getting noticed at work (and no, it doesn’t include doubling down and taking on more work than you can handle).
This week on the Budget Divas podcast, my guest is Steven Foust of NCO Success Academy. Steven served 13-years on active duty in the United States Army. After leaving the active service, he joined the United States Army Reserve and completed an additional 8 years in multiple leadership roles before retiring from the Army with more than 20-years of total service.
In this episode, Steven shares his strategy tips on how to get noticed at work. Main takeaways: making sure that you have meaningful 1-on-1’s with your supervisor, creating important connections with them, and being intentional of what you ask of your supervisor regarding performance evaluations, room for improvement, and showing your commitment.
